No one starts a book in the middle

Dear Editor,

I would like to comment on A James’ letter published on Tuesday in response to my letter.

Many persons do not understand the difference between the word “covenant” and the word “Torah/instructions”. A covenant is an agreement made between parties. The scriptures record covenants being made between YHWH and mankind and includes the one made at Mount Sinai when the law was given.

A covenant must have a proposal, an acceptance, blood ratification and a covenant-confirming meal. Yeshua’s new covenant was in His blood, not the blood of animals and this is the reason that it is no longer necessary to slaughter animals for our sins – Hebrews 10:12. Animal sacrifices are therefore what is being declared as obsolete.

You refer to “the earthly foundation of the apostles”. May I just point you to 1 Corinthians 3:11 which states “For no one is able to lay any other foundation except that which is laid, which is Yeshua the Messiah”.

The apostles DID teach from the Old Testament as there was no New Testament for many years after the death of Yeshua. In 2 Timothy 3:16 Paul tells Timothy that “All Scripture is breathed out by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness.”

As a matter of interest, we see Paul leaving Philippi after the Days of Unleavened Bread (Acts 20:6) and hurrying to be in Jerusalem for the Feast of Shavuot (Acts 20:16) signifying that even after the death of Yeshua, the Feasts of YHWH were being kept. You would have thought Paul knew that they were abolished and had become obsolete!

Yeshua said in Matthew 5:18 and 19 that until heaven and earth pass away, not one yod or tittle will pass away from Torah, until all be done. I still see heaven and earth, don’t you? and we are still waiting for a lot of prophecies to be fulfilled. Further, in speaking with His disciples after His resurrection, Yeshua said, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all have to be filled that were written in the Torah of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms concerning me”. Which books did He teach them from? The then unwritten gospels and epistles?

Lastly, let me just say that had Yeshua broken one of His Father’s commandments, he could not have become our Saviour/Redeemer. Isaiah 2:3 states that “the Torah shall go forth from Zion and the Word of YHWH from Jerusalem”. Let us not think that King Yeshua will have a lawless kingdom, for no kingdom exists without law. That is known as anarchy.

Have a great day, and I do hope that you will begin to read the front of the book. No one starts a book in the middle. They need to see how the story begins.
